PHOTOVOLTAICS
Thermographic inspections for commercial PV systems and solar parks – from PV modules to the associated electrical infrastructure.
Commercial PV Systems
& Solar Parks
We inspect commercial PV systems of all sizes – from rooftop systems on commercial and industrial buildings to utility-scale solar parks.
Inspections are carried out from the ground, by drone, or by combining both methods. This allows the scope to be tailored to the specific system and inspection objective.
Typical applications include:
-
Commercial rooftop PV systems on industrial facilities, logistics centres, office buildings and agricultural buildings
-
Solar parks – ground-mounted PV, agrivoltaics & floating PV
-
Acceptance inspections, warranty assessments, fault investigations and recurring condition inspections
More than Module Screening
PV thermography often focuses solely on the aerial detection of module anomalies. However, a comprehensive assessment should also include the system’s electrical components. We therefore combine:
-
radiometric drone thermography for large module areas
-
targeted ground-based inspection of selected components
-
structured analysis and traceable reporting
This provides clear benefits for operators, EPCs, investors and technical decision-makers:
-
greater technical depth
-
fewer points of coordination
-
consistent assessment
-
a reliable basis for decision-making across interconnected system areas
Recurring Inspections & Tailored Inspection Intervals
Regular comparative inspections help identify thermal anomalies at an early stage, track changes over time and prioritise necessary measures. Different system areas can be inspected at appropriate intervals:
-
module areas can be inspected efficiently by drone at regular intervals
-
inverters, sub-distribution boards, electrical connections and other relevant equipment can be assessed separately from the ground
This creates an inspection strategy tailored to the system size, design, operating strategy and technical relevance – rather than treating all systems and components in the same way.

Operational Safety & Maintenance
Thermographic inspections help identify thermal anomalies at an early stage and prioritise appropriate action. Especially on rooftop systems, abnormal heating at connectors, cable terminations, inverters or distribution boards can indicate defects, increased contact resistance and potential fire risks.
-
detect anomalies early
-
reduce outages and consequential damage
-
prioritise maintenance measures
-
document system condition consistently
Reports & Decision Support
Findings are clearly located, assessed and documented using thermograms and visible-light images. The reports provide reliable decision support for maintenance, acceptance inspections, warranty assessments and coordination with operators, EPCs and insurers.
Service Area
We primarily work in Germany, Austria and the Alpine region.
For large-scale and utility-scale PV projects, we also operate internationally, with a particular focus on selected markets in Europe and Africa.
