GRID INFRASTRUCTURE & BESS

Thermographic testing of overhead power lines, substations and grid-related infrastructure, with a focus on the German-speaking Alpine region as well as throughout southern Germany and Austria.

Our focus is on the thermographic testing of overhead line infrastructure in the medium and high voltage range – especially where long distances, challenging topography and difficult accessibility require a specialized approach.

In addition, we examine substations, transformer stations and selected grid-related infrastructure, especially in direct connection with line and grid projects.

Focus on overhead line infrastructure

Our main focus is on overhead power lines and network infrastructure near overhead power lines.

The following are particularly relevant:

  • long pipeline sections over many kilometers

  • difficult-to-access routes

  • alpine and topographically challenging regions

  • Limited visibility due to vegetation

  • Network areas where ground and drone inspection together offer clear advantages

The combination of ground inspection, specialized optics and radiometric drone thermography enables economical and scalable testing even under demanding conditions.

Overhead power lines in hard-to-reach regions

Especially in the Alpine region and parts of southern Germany, there are network sections where terrain, vegetation, distance or accessibility make classic tests difficult.

Here we rely on a flexible combination of:

  • Ground-level thermography

  • airborne drone thermography

  • Evaluation from near, far and aerial perspectives

Where necessary for reliable test results, longer access routes and more demanding paths are also included – planned economically and with a view to an efficient overall result.

Substations & transformer stations

In addition to the overhead line infrastructure, we are also examining substations, transformer stations and selected station areas.

This is particularly useful when management and station areas are to be jointly evaluated in the context of a project.

Relevance for operation & maintenance

Thermographic testing in network infrastructure creates added value primarily when it is implemented in a practical, efficient and decision-relevant manner.

Our services provide support particularly in:

  • early detection of operationally relevant anomalies

  • Prioritization of maintenance and repair measures

  • structured condition assessment of larger network sections

  • Transparent documentation for operators, service providers and insurance companies

Reports & Decision-Making Basis

For network operators and technical decision-makers, not only the inspection is relevant – but above all a reliable test report.

Our analyses are designed not only to document anomalies, but also to place them in a clear technical and economic context.

This is how it is created:

  • structured decision-making bases

  • comparable ratings

  • Reliable evidence for operation, maintenance and insurance

Area of application

Our focus is on projects in southern Germany, Austria and the German-speaking Alpine region.

We support international projects upon request.
